Mathew paced the inside of his apartment, anxious of what was to come. No time to relax, or take a smoke break in his hammock. He knew he needed to be sober for what he was about to pull off. His bag was packed and his athletic shoes on and tightly laced. Sir Henry Wadsworth Longfellow II was in his cage. Everything was in order- COULDN'T THE SECOND HAND ON MY CLOCK MOVE ANY FASTER? Knowing that he couldn't lose sobriety before his mission he merely poured himself a glass of water. Using his alchemist touch, he changed brick of salt into a mild sedative. Swirling it into the liquid with his finger he drank the now mildly laced tonic. It was time. Mathew practically bounded excitedly out the door, a backpack full of mason jars, pipettes, and the tools of his trade. The somewhat heavy bag clinked softly as it rubbed against the soft fabric of Mathew's t-shirt which portrayed a clearly stoned platypus. Mathew also was regretting the ripped jeans he wore, now feeling hot in the summer sun. He chose to take his bicycle for this mission, seeing as it was the stealthiest way to make his way to the water purification plant. No need for Google maps, Mathew was keenly familiar with the route from the last time he has poisoned the cities water supply with LSD. Mathew hummed a little tune as he rode down to the docks, pleasantly imagining the change in the collective conscious that such an event like an entire city tripping their balls off may have. He might just achieve world peace. Upon arrival Mathew merely ditched the bike in the bushes before busying himself with the second part of his plan. Pulling out a Titans communicator from his backpack, he began a massive text to all Jump City Titans. Where did he retrieve such a device? From their leader of course; not to say it wasn't stolen. The Mass message went as such. URGENT: REINFORCEMENTS NEEDED IN STEEL CITY ALL TITANS ABANDON CURRENT DIRECTIVE AND MEET AT TEEN TITANS EAST
Not knowing the extent of Athena's power, Mathew did indeed hope that the titans would fall for the false flag and all end up in Steel City. Steel City, far from him and his shenanigans. After waiting about ten minutes for the titans to mobilize away from Jump he got to work, beginning to melt the barbed wire fences away with an acidic touch and break into the surprisingly low security facility. ~20 minutes later~ 2:05 pm Any titans arriving on the scene would find a few police on the sidelines taking a statement from a woozy security guard. A small crew of men in hazmat suits were cleaning up the remains of Mathews mess. The automatic pump had been shut off manually, but Mathew was nowhere to be found, though one with the appropriate skills may be able to track him. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ WORD: 512 Notes: Its a bit of a puzzle really, good luck have fun- I will RP civilians for this thread Tagged: Titans, Athena, heroes Lyrics: None

Five minutes after the message came through
Yes, she knew ahead of time, yes she should have warned them, yes she would probably get an earful about not warning anyone, but it was Mathew. So she just made sure to cut the main water supply at N. Cady Hospital before she arrived at the tower not twenty minutes ago and now began calling in warning’s at the the elementary schools and senior center’s, those at the most risk. The last thing she did was leave a large pack of water bottles on the Titan’s kitchen counter, it wasn’t easy with her bad back to get them down from the disaster supplies but she had prepared a dolly ahead of time so it wasn’t too bad. It should be enough for any and all hero’s who would need to hydrate during the crazy period. She’d tell them about it once they needed to know.
”Why aren’t we helping to stop this? You clearly knew what was going to happen, so why in the world wouldn’t we be going with-” Serenity sighed stretching out her sore back, this would not be a fun day for her, she’d told the Titans that the future was hazy about what that message was -which was sort of true, she couldn’t get a clear read on those who weren’t lucid- Then she had to call in some threats into the many places that needed forewarning. Topping off her day of bad days was the many arguments she was bound to have starting with this one.
She pulled her t-shirt down in back to try to cover the only half healed gashes littering her back. It wasn't her's, she had snagged it from somewhere around the tower it had some band she didn't listen to splattered across the front the jeans were her's though. ”Sorina I-” Of course the dove was not going to let her finish, she huffed irritably and started packing a backpack with the supplies she’d need for later.
Sorina fluttered her wings irritably in the girls face, ”It has been four years. Four years. This is not like when he was being chased by the FBI. He has moved on, he is poisoning the city.” The dove was just getting started.
The medium tried her best to interrupt, ”Sori-“ Apparently it was not to be. she huffed out a breath and ran a hand through her hair pulling it back in a bun. She lifted up the brunette wig and slipped it on adjusting the bangs to hide her forehead. Serenity would not usually resort to such measures but she did her best to keep her personal life away from the other titans. She hadn't had enough interaction with most of the titans they would be hard pressed to recognize her dressed up as a punk rocker, yes a few would recognize her if she got close enough but she was willing to risk it.
”No you are not putting this off Ms. I-have-seen-this-arguement-beforehand, we will be having this discussion. You had helped him evade federal custody and that was years ago you were a stupid teenager. No interrupting I’m not done.” Serenity sighed and turned back toward her destination she was done trying to interrupt the dove. ”You were allowed mistakes back then but now you are helping him get away with something on this magnitude. Serenity Marie this is so far beyond the normal realms of decency you are helping him get away with… What exactly is he doing?”
With a sigh she swung the backpack over her shoulder and started heading towards the door she was going to need time to get there before the streets started clogging up. ”He’s not evil he’s just-” The psychic was at a loss for words. Not a common occurrence but not unheard of when it came to this topic. ”it’s- I- Not really- well sort of- I don’t - he’s not- he's not a bad guy.” She sighed. Once she was face to face with Mathew she wasn't even sure exactly what she was going to say to him, but in order to have whatever conversation they would have she needed to get him away from the other hero's in the city.
Sorina puffed her feathers out, ”I beg to differ, he has super powers and he is not on the side of good, I think he qualifies for the term super villain.” It was rather an unfair statement to be throwing around, the dove knew it but she wanted to drive her point home.
Serenity turned sharply (straining her back) to glare at the dove not having heard this part of the conversation before, ”Oh he’s not and you know it." She closed her eyes bracing her hand on her back and leveled a glare at the dove. ”Your views have been noted and ignored are you coming or are you going to fume some more?” Yes they were both pissed off at each other, but that was nothing new. Especially when it came to this particular topic.
Serenity didn’t wait for an answer, she knew what it would be and the dove knew she knew. She strode off with one ticked off ghost following in her wake.

When Mar'i Grayson returned to the tower, there were a bunch of water bottles on the kitchen counter rather than being stored in the fridge, as if deliberately wanting to be seen. That was suspicious; usually their water filtration system was top notch that they didn't have to waste money on the environmentally unfriendly bottles of contaminated plastic water. That was when she saw the note that was left and her eyebrows furrowed. What? The city's supply of water was being drugged with LSD? She didn't know where this information was coming from--or if it was some sort of strange practical joke but if it was signed from an actual Titan member she couldn't imagine that it would be.
She had arrived to the Tower because she wanted to see with Athena what was going on. Since she got the mass text, Nightstar had been trying to reach the leader for answers but that had been difficult in the middle of a battle herself with an infamous serial killer. Letting him loose into the streets again when she just had him was not an option. That's why she had only arrived to the Tower twenty minutes after the initial message was sent.
The lack of an answer made her nervous, and the text itself was suspicious. Why would Shift send her entire team to Steel and leave Jump City undefended? Either something big was going on and all their limited numbers were needed, or something was not quite right here. She tried calling her leader one more time, but she had a decision to make. Should she try and find her in Steel City--in some unspecified location no less--or should she check out the water supply stat? There were no other Titans around to consult, except...
Mar'i gave up trying to contact Athena and instead pulled out the iconic communicator to try and contact their 'part time member' Serenity. She knew something about all this, and Mar'i wanted answers. In the meantime she walked toward the Titan Mainframe. Her computer hacking skills were not up to par, but she's been taught by Cyborg himself how to use the program on their system in order to track down members of the team. "Serenity, report. What is this about LSD?" she asked before finding the cable to plug up her communicator into the USB slot.
She opened up the program and allowed it to sync up with her communicator. The program created a map of the city and triangulated two signals--one from the text that she got, and the other from the call she was sending out to Serenity. If both were in Jump City then it seemed their leader--or whoever had her communicator more like--had no intention of being in Steel City. Her eyes narrowed. This whole thing seemed familiar...
Nightstar opened their digital copies of mission reports and statements. Since coming back to the Titans she had gone over them herself in her spare time, familiarizing herself with past cases. This wasn't the first time that the city had been poisoned, she was sure of it.

. . TAGGED: @mari, @reni, @mathew, @irazehl, @portiagordon, @batboy, Titans, ect. MUSIC:John, I'm Only Dancin'WORDS: 820 | don't get me wrong "Mar'i! Where is everyone? I can't find any of the other Titans in the city or in the Tower." Athena exclaimed, barreling into the room. She was clearly at a loss - where the hell was her team!? She hadn't been able to find any of them - nobody was patrolling, even though they were supposed to be, nobody was shopping or working their part-time jobs or even hiding out in the spot on the Tower roof where they thought nobody knew they smoked.
It even looked like some of them had been in the Tower but had left in a hurry - but why was the question. She had just finished scouring the Tower for her teammates; she would have heard any alarms going off, certainly.
The Titan came up short when she saw the water bottles, a neatly-written note laid open on top, and Nightstar tapping away at the half-Tamaranians' communicator. A confused, suspicios scowl on the green Titans' face, she moved forward and plucked the paper from on top of the pile of bottled water, reading it quickly - her eyes growing wider as the words sunk in. "LSD in the wa--" She glanced at the water bottle stacks. "Great. Just...great. Geez." Shift resisted the urge to crumple the informative little piece of paper in her hands, instead putting it back on top of the table.
"Okay. At least she got us water. That's something. I might not wring her neck now." Athena growled, clutching at her head in an effort to keep herself at least somewhat under wraps. Serenity had seen it, and hadn't told them? Hadn't told anyone? Oh, sure, she'd helped out the hospitals and schools, but the whole thing could have been avoided if she'd just told the Titans - or the cops. Was there something going on with Serenity? Was it connected to her visions of Savage, of her dying at his hands?
No, that didn't seem right. Savage would tear through the town brick-by-brick looking for her if he had to, but spiking the water just didn't seem his style. It was...petty.
They'd figure it out when they got to the Water Supply Station for Jump. Speaking of... The shape shifter looked up, back at Nightstar. "Have you been able to get ahold of her? Or any of the other Titans? Try - damn, I don't know if Young Justice has our radio frequency..." She sighed sharply. "Nevermind them. At the very least, get a hold of Annette - or Naomi - let her know to send my Titans back. Send some of hers, if she wants. Ask her to start checking the camera's, see if she can find out who spiked the water." Shift rattled off her orders, pacing in a small circle by the island counter-tops. One hand dropped to her belt, where her communicator usually hung - and caught on air, instead of the texturized rubber-plastic mix of her communicator's edges.
A couple of thoughts ran through her mind all at once, when the heroine glanced down to double check it was missing. Had she lost it? No, couldn't be - she'd had it just the other day, sparring with Mar'i, snipping during patrol with Damian, walking along the beach. She'd thought she might have had to rescue a possibly-drowning Mathew at high-tide, but he'd been fine in the end, only a little water-logged. And after that...
She couldn't remember seeing it, or using it. Nobody had mentioned it - not that she had seen any of the other Titans in more than passing, besides a late-night conversation with Serenity. "That little --!" Shift hissed, head shooting up like a startled cats'. "Mathew did this. I'd bet money on it. He's done it before - how did I miss it for so long?"
Athena snarled, angry at the material-altering young man and at herself. It was an animalistic sound, a side-effect that the green woman usually tried to hide - something the heroine kept under wraps unless her anger grew too hot. Her clenched fists trembled. Now people might die -- and what, all for some stupid prank?
And Serenity was off after him - God only knew why. Mathew didn't have much super strength, but he did have some muscle, and if Serenity thought she could take him out... Shift just hoped they found she blonde before she found him. "I can't believe - Mar'i, will you start looking for Serenity? I'm going to grab a spare communicator before I go to the water supply and see if I can find anything there. Let me know if you find her - or anyone else who could help us out." She eyed the tense green-eyed heroine, trying to keep a steady head as her team was spread far and wide, a newly-returned ally had gone missing while leaving only a cryptic note behind, and there was a big possibility that sooner rather than later gangs on LSD-laced water would be roaming the streets. "Please."

The doors opened and she looked behind her to see the green woman she's been trying to track down on the program. She was as harried as Nightstar had been when first entering the tower. It was clear from the moment Athena asked for her team that she had not been the one to send the text, which proved one of Mar'i's theories correct. She may not be the detective that Uncle Tim was but she was her father's daughter, and her mind was suited toward problem solving--and this was one problem that needed solving fast. Though she was momentarily sidetracked when Shift mentioned, 'at least she got us water,' which elicited a derisive snort from the woman busy at work at the computer.
Mar'i was not pleased with the decision her comrade took in with-holding information. There were many citizens who could be harmed by this drugged water--not everyone at risk was going to be at a hospital. There were many outpatients, people who had bad reactions, the elderly and--good X'hal children would be drugged! How many parents mixed water into their baby's home made baby food? The thought made her sick and worse for doing her job, furious. That was an extremely irresponsible move for someone who was supposed to be a hero. There had better be a good reason for this or so help her...
The first set of suggestions she quickly worked on, using the computer rather than the hooked up communicator to try and get in contact with an operative in Titans East. Nightstar's back was turned to her leader or she would have told her not to bother trying to find her communicator--someone already had it. She heard rather than saw the revelation. When Shift mentioned a name the light-bulb went off in her head, answering the question she was asking herself before she had to waste time sifting through databases. Mathew--yes, that was it. "That could be our ticket to finding him," Nightstar said as the computer finally triangulated two pings. Serenity's was... damn it, it was right here in the Tower.
"She left her communicator behind," Nightstar said in a tone that was displeased at best, though bordered on disgusted. Add that to the 'crap she was in trouble for' list when they got a hold of her. Then, Shift was asking her to find their dubious comrade. This was where Nightstar paused. "Wait," she urged Athena, wanting to get a word in before she left.
Nightstar didn't have a problem with taking orders. Athena was the designated leader and it was her job to designate their resources to certain areas. The fact that she was taken a certain harsh tone only spoke to the confusing nature of this whole thing. Honestly, Mar'i was just relieved that their leader showed up at all. It took care of one problem, so they could get on to the next. "Finding Serenity will have to wait; with our numbers consisting on you and I, and the city in great danger I can't go out there looking for someone who has no means to contact them," she explained the part she disagreed with and offered an alternative.
"I'll stay here and work as command and co-ordinator. You go to the water plant to investigate. Give me the spare communicator before you leave so I can sync you up to the mainframe. That way, you can track the co-ordinates I found of your missing communicator," she began and pointed up toward the large screen. It was a blue grid map of the city, with two dots signifying the location of two communicators. One was rather obviously at Titan Tower, off the coast of the city on the island they called home. "If by any chance we can't get in touch with our Titans or those in the East faction then I need to try and access cameras myself. In the mean time I'll work on contacting local news to send out an urgent warning not to drink the tap water."
That was Nightstar's game plan, and she turned back to getting on exactly what she outlined she would do. She raked her finger through her scalp above the tiara she wore as part of her uniform. It was stressful work doing the job of many in one, but one of them needed to do field work while the other worked to do damage control. "I'll also try to get in touch with police in case they've already arrived at the scene and found something--now I think it's time we stop planning and start acting, wouldn't you say?"
She turned around to look at Shift, to make sure they were going to go along with this. There could be something that Nightstar overlooked. The Grayson was proud, but thankfully the pride rarely if ever got in the way of her being a hero. Her number one priority was saving lives, and that meant the best plan, not the best man, always won in her books. This was not her trying to overstep the leader's authority--it was her doing her job when things were tight.

2:15pm Water supply currently untainted Main Pump Manually turned off
As the ambulance pulled away, hauling a cargo of a very stoned semi-conscious security guard. The scene seemed to calm down at the plant. The men in blue were talking and laughing among themselves and had a sort of ease about the situation now. The three in blue on the sidelines seeming all to comfortable were contrasted by the three men in yellow beyond the yellow taped perimeter taking readings frantically searching for a cause for all this concern. Much to their surprise, nothing seemed to be out of order except for a stoned guard and a bit of unremarkable vandalism.
Maybe it was some punk, or just a paranoid security guard who likes a joint on his break and had a little too much? Perhaps. Nevertheless, after the chaos that Mathew caused last time by poisoning the city through the water line, it was no surprise that they had to follow through all the same. Didn't keep them from feeling it was a waste of their time.
"What are you doing?" One of the cleaning crew said to another one who seemed to be examining the air filtration system on his back. Though his expressions weren't visible beyond the tinted screen of his hazmat, his voice showed annoyance. "Im s-supposed to ch-check everyones-" stammered the obviously vocally impaired underling. "Don't waste my time, why don't you make yourself useful and make sure those police wear gas masks if they are in the area. I already told them to stay behind the line, but if they're going to be so close in the first place they shouldn't be so stupid about doing so." interjected the obviously frustrated asshole in charge of the cleaning project. He seemed to brush off the underling with annoyance and busy himself with his detecting devices once more.
As the timid man approached the police they initially seemed to turn away the gasmasks, really seeing no need. After the little guy seemed to insist they uncrossed their arms and begrudgingly accepted the masks.
As he watched the scene unfold from his hiding place in the contamination zone, Mathew was in a bit of panic. Nothing seemed to be going right, and though he had a contingency plan for such a quick response, it would be difficult to pull off. He had to keep a cool head and remember what it all was for. World peace.
It had come to him during an acid trip. Everyone was one entity, and the universe was filled with infinite love and forgiveness. He had understood why the drug was illegal. What would happen to the war industry when people realized we are all one? What would happen to the made-up economy? The establishment must be torn down. The people need to love each other. The people needed psylocybin mushrooms really. Not being easy to massively dose people with psylocybin, lysergic acid diethylamide seemed a possible substitute.

Serenity sat off to the side of the scene playing the roll of nosy bystander, asking questions here and there while calling different people who would need to be warned not to drink the water. She had also sent out a call to the news stations that the water filtration system might be failing, her whistleblower routine had gotten better over the years. The breaking news would be out in less then an hour some stations sooner. It was a stop gap yes there was still some concern that some people wanted the high the water would bring but at least no one would be dying from ingesting the water. Yes Athena would still probably want to wring her neck later but at least she wouldn't be found out soon. She had her pack filled with scent masks which she would hopefully not need among other things that might or might not be useful throughout the day. Getting Mathew out of this without him being thrown in jail was her main concern. She was not really interested in a jail break today, the painkillers she had been taking for her back were just dulling the pain due to the fact she wasn't taking a full dose. She needed her mind to be intact or her visions would start to get the better of her. If they were going to escape one angry titan Serenity couldn't be held back by such a little thing as pain. Irazehl, or for most by now the affectionately named Izzy, was already high in a tree just outside the grounds of the water desalination plant. The oaks branches held strong against the titans feet as he peered at the situation through a low tech collapsible telescope. He had the situation nearly figured out. He had spotted the bottles of water not long after waking up. He hated to ruin his sleeping-in-until-hell-freezes-over plan with work, but having read the note over his 'morning' cup of tea while receiving an urgent message was like a sign from god that he wasn't meant to have a good day. Izzy, not believing in coincidence immediately questioned the validity of Athena's message. She possessed a more casual vernacular characteristic of the inner city. This message read like it was sent from a cop... or someone pretending to be a cop. A cop who mobilizes their entire team without telling them the first detail of what was going on. It was Time to suit up either way. Foregoing the coin toss, Irazehl decided to track Serenity down rather than head to Steel City Now here he was, standing in a tree, searching near-frantically for a long haired stoner. It wasn't very hard to piece together who was behind the poisoning of the city; not many punks had the resources or the warped sense of humor as Mathew to do such a thing. It was also not a surprise to have stealthily followed serenity to the docks. Having done all the documentation by hand for the last time Mathew did something like this made Irazehl perfectly familiar with Mathews patterns. Not seeing him, Irazehl worried about his theory. His gut was telling him that Mathew must have Athena's communicator and tried to create a diversion- but was this the real diversion? So far nothing had contradicted his intuition, an intuition that he trusted more than any human alive. The quarantine zone and hazmats were reminiscent of the chaos that Mathew leaves in his wake, and his bike was here. It was, however, a surprisingly small investigation. The men in hazmat suits seemed to be running tests to verify if the zone needed to be quarantined. No way was he going in there without talking to one. Tucking the telescope slowly into his dark blue stealth suit, Irazehl pulled out his communicator, looking to undo the damage that Mathew had done. He was sure not to make any sudden movements so as not to alert Serenity to his position. To the best of his knowledge, she had no idea that he had been following her. Nor did he want Mathew to be the one finding him first. Having completed his mass text rectifying the disinformation, he sent another one directly to Athena's communicator. The simple message read as such: "Hi Mathew."~~~~~~~~ Words: ~500 Note: Neato Links: Irazehls Message to TitansTagged: Too lazy to tag Does anyone read this: doubt it Banana doodle whip diddly doo

| You held out a paper rose Athena sighed at the news of the wayward seer; there went one plan. Picking that particular blonde head out of the entirety of Jump City would be a chore - even for her hawk form. She paused when Nightstar stopped her, turning around - eager to get going. Irked at the stall, Shift nonetheless agreed with her friend and nodded to show it after the half-alien detailed her explanation. Doing so, she disappeared for a minute - running to grab a spare from the Meeting Room before racing back, tossing the thing to Mar'i when she jogged back into the kitchen. Shift hoped her idea would work - it sounded sound, but would no doubt work better if they had more Titans...which was of course why Mathew had done what he'd done, so they would be stretched thin, if not entirely absent, when his plan came to fruition.
"Sounds good. Once you get that hooked up, I'll go - and good luck raising them on their communicators. If there are reporters at the plant, I'll let them know, too, if they don't already." Shift grinned wide at Mar'i, adrenaline pumping through her veins egging her on to go, go, go - and now she had a tighter plan to work with, too, which just meant more streamlining for her, a bonus of having other people suggesting ideas and bouncing them around.
That said and done, and updated communicator once again in hand, she had other things to do now - catching a thieving druggie high on that list. "I'll head out now - I won't be able to respond if I'm shifted, but I'll get back to any alerts as soon as possible." And with that, the West Titans leader was gone, wings fluttering through the night.
Finding a good spot to land wasn't hard - besides some workers, a few police officers, and a small crowd of normal people, the spot that had been cordoned off was less of a hot-spot than she'd feared it might be. Fluttering to a stop in the grass, the Titan shifted from dark green owl to fuzzy human, looking down at her communicator as it beeped when she changed forms.
Flipping it open, she read through the message quickly, glancing around instinctively for her second - not surprised when she couldn't find him. Irazehl had the gift of blending into a crowd and being sneaky - the opposite of herself, and it was a good thing one of them could blend in. She'd get him later for that pet store crack...
Tapping back a reply to the message and sending it off, the Titan strode forward to the gathering of officials, quickly updating them on what the Titans' working theories were, and their less-than-full team roster, at least until everyone got back. made by abby of i'm so curious |

While Mar'i was busy trying to contact everyone; from schools to news to Steel City, a notification popped up on her screen. Her eyebrows furrowed. Irkhalla was informing them the message Athena sent thirty minutes ago was actually a false call. Yeah, thanks, they hadn't figured that out by now. That would have been useful information if it was sent quickly after--seriously, she was going to question their 'Fucker in Charge' as he so put it about the delay when they were face to face. It was entirely possible their system was corrupted so she worked on sending her own little message to the Titans to inform them of this fact. It would really suck if central command would give out faulty messages, too. At least Athena's replacement seemed to be giving the messages out at the specified time. She however asked for radio silence so she exempt the leader from the message, only sending her the update on the map to track the missing communicator that formerly was for her hands only. As that was going on she tried to tap into local surveillance cameras, but the program in place from previous generations of Titans was not exactly user friendly. She grit her teeth as she had to access the a multitude of files and nearly cursed to the empty room when she messed up here or there. She had forgotten how to use these databases, ashamed as she was to admit it. Her duties on The Green and Oa Sattelite Station did not require in-depth use of technology and she had often defaulted use of tech to the speedsters; specifically Jai West back when he was still a member. She regretted her lack of experience now that it fell upon her and it was a humbling reminder. It wasn't that she couldn't do it, but she just didn't feel fast enough when it felt like every second that so-called Alchemist was out there, the city was in danger. They really needed to work on their numbers for home base. She considered calling Nightwing as back-up but dismissed it--he had to remain in office when it was daytime hours. Stupid secret identities; a necessary evil that thwarted her success and happiness every step of the way. It was why she didn't know that the first person to wear the uniform and parade the name was her father until she was ten years old. Ridiculous. Though she didn't have much time to dwell and pout. There was no sight of the perpetrator carrying Athena's communicator yet.
